GLOSSARY
Customer: A person who purchases goods or services from another; buyer.
Department Store: A large store that sells a variety of goods organized by departments.
Fraction: A part of a whole; portion.
Gloves: A covering for the hand made with a separate part for each finger and for the thumb.
Half-price: For half the normal price.
Shop owner: A person who has an own shop.
Souvenir: A small, inexpensive article given or kept as a reminder of a place one has visited, etc.; memento.
Sports gear: Apparatus used for physical activities.
Delicious: Pleasing to the senses, esp. taste or smell.
Mild: Gentle or soft in feeling, manner, etc.
Nutritious: Providing nourishment; nourishing.
Sour: Having an acid taste resembling that of vinegar; tart.
Spicy: Having or containing spice; seasoned with spices.
Sweet: Having the taste or flavor of sugar or the like.

GLOSSARY
CHAPTERS 1-2
Sadly  Looking sad.
Full  With a lot of things or people.
Aproached  To came near.
Boss  The top autority.
Interview  Conversation with someone to know some information.
Liar  Someone who doesn't say the trurth.
Reply  Answer a letter or an e-mail.
Request  Ask to do something that you want to do.
Thick  With short amplitud.
Deep  With a lot of wide.
Nodded  Shake the head in an affirmative expression.
Didn't mean  Something that we don't know wat it is.
Rubish  Something without importance.
Complaint  The first pleading of the plaintiff in a civil action, stating the cause of action.

CHAPTERS 3-4
Injured  To do or cause harm of any kind to.
Plateau  A land area having a level surface raised much higher above nearby land.
Looked like To have the appearance of; seem to the eye to be.
Sceptical  Inclined to have doubt or doubts.
Journey  A long trip.
Shot The discharge of a firearn.
Wing Either of the two limbs or similar parts of birds, insects, and bats that are specially designed for enabling flight.
In fact  Something that is real and actually exists.
Lecture  Something you read.

CHAPTERS 5-6
Trip: A traveling from one place to another.
Trick: A sneaky scheme to deceive or cheat.
There: In or at that place (opposed to here).
None: No one. 
Argue: To present or state reasons for or against a thing.
Narrow: Of little width.
Pointing to: Saying where is something extending the finger on its direction.
Pushed: To press against with force in order to move.
Camp: A place where a group of people sleeps in tents or other temporary shelters.
Towards: In the direction or vicinity of.
Forgive: To grant pardon for (an offense); absolve.
Bit (bite): To grip with the teeth.
Cave: A hollow place in the earth, esp. one into a hill, mountain, etc., or underground.
Soft: Relatively easy to bend, crush, or cut, such as metal or wood.

CHAPTERS 7-8
Pinnacle: A high peak or top of a mountain, esp. one that is pointed and thin.
Ropes: A strong, thick line or cord, made of twisted strands of hemp.
Abyss:  A deep space, hole, or cavity too vast to be measured.
Path: 
A way or small passage on the ground beaten by human or animal feet.
Hatchets: A small, short-handled ax with one end of the head in a blade and the other in the shape of a hammer, made to be used with one hand.
Crash: 
To make a loud, clattering noise.
Branches: An armlike division of the stem of a tree or shrub.
Hole: 
An opening through something;gap.
Pool: A small body of standing water; a small pond.
Female: 
A person of the sex that bears young; a girl or woman.
Male:

Bites: To cut or tear with the teeth.
Poisonous: Full of or containing poison.
Rest: The refreshing quiet of sleep or ease.
Scream: 
To make a loud, sharp cry.
Whispered: To speak or say with soft, quiet, hushed sounds, esp. with little or no vibration of the vocal cords.
Darknes: To (cause to) become dark or darker.
Footstep: 
The distance covered by a step in walking; pace.
Frog: 
Asmall tailless amphibian animal with smooth, moist skin and long hind legs for jumping.
Shook the head:
Move the head from one side to another one.
Half-ape: A medium of an ape.

Border: Limit.
Shook hands with: Say hello with the hand.
Brave: 
Having or showing courage; unafraid of dangerous things.
Ape: 
A manlike animal similar to monkeys, with long arms, a broad chest, and no tail.
Hunter: A person who chases or searches for wild animals.
Trap:
An apparatus for catching birds or other animals.

Chief: The head or leader of an organized body.
Embraced: To clasp in the arms; hug.
Rescue: To free from danger; save from harm.
Waved: A movement of the hand, as in greeting.
Battle: A fight between two opposing military forces.
Weapons: 
An instrument or device used for attack or defense.
Steps: 
A support for the foot in ascending or descending.
Proof: Evidence or facts that are sufficient to establish a thing as true or believable.
Spears: 
A long wooden shaft with a sharp-pointed head of metal or stone attached to it.
Clerk: A person employed to keep records or perform general tasks in an office, etc.
Fair: 
Free from bias, dishonesty, or injustice.

  • What is surprising about the picture?
People near dinosaurs is the surprising part of the picture.
  • Where do you think it is?
I think they are on a territory aparted of the world.

Because he wanted to saw the dinosaurs.


CHAPTERS 1-2

  • How does Edward plan to convince Gladys to marry him?
He plan to go to somewhere dangerous and exotic and write about it to saw Gladys that he is an adventure man.
  • Why does Edward say he is a science student in his letter to Challenger?
Because he know that the Professor Challenger doesn't like journalists, but he loves science.
  • Why doesn't Professor Challenger like talking to a journalist?
Because he think that the journalists only want to write an interesting story.

  • How does the professor know that Edward is not a science student?
Because he doesn't know what is the professor talking to him.
  • What was Edward's answer to the policeman after the attack by Challenger?
''I'm responsible of that, forget about it''


CHAPTERS 3-4

  • What did Professor Challenger find in the bag of Mr Maple White?
He found a drawing of a dinosaur on a plateau.
  • How does the professor convince Edward the animal in the photo was a pterodactyl?
He showed Edward a photo of a pterodactyl bone in a science book and he gave Edward a real bone to compare them.
  • Why does the audience at the Zoology Institute laugh at Professor Challenger?
Because the don't belive the story of the professor.
  • Why does the Professor Summelee volunteer to go on the mission?
Because he want to prove everybody that the Professor Challenger is a liar.
  • Why does Edward offer to join the mission?
Because he think this is the opportunity to prove Gladys he is a hero.


CHAPTERS 5-6

  • What was inside Professor Challenger's envelope?
Nothing, the envelope was empty.
  • Why does Edward compare the two professors to children?
He compare it because they were competing like children.
  • Why was it difficult to walk on the ground up the river?
It was difficult to walk on the ground because it was soft and wet.
  • What did Lord Roxton and the others see near the tree on the fifth day?
They saw an empty bottle, an old newspaper and some bones. 
  • What happend to the four men while they were standing at the bottom of the cave?
They heard a loud noise and a rock fell from above.

CHAPTERS 7-8

  • In Professor Challenger's opinion, what do you need in order to find a solution to a problem?
All you need is determination and intelligence.
  • What catastrophe happened after the men crossed into the Lost World?
They heard a terrible noise behind them and saw the broken tree at the bottom of the abyss.
  • How did the explorers escape from the pterodactyls?
They run into the forest.
  • What bad surprise did the men find after they returned to their camp?
They found the camp in disorder. Their food and provisions were all over the ground.
  • What does the dinosaur in the picture below look like? Describe it.
It is green, very big and tall, it is herbyvore, so I'm not afraid about it. But it's tail is very long.

CHAPTERS 9-10
  • How did Lord Roxton make the grotesque creature with green eyes and sharp teeth go away?
He took a stick and lit it in the fire and then, he pushed it into the creature's face.
  • What did Summerlee say to Challenger to convince him the four men must leave the plateau?
"If we die here, the world will never know about our scientific discoveries.
  • Why was it a problem for the men to make a map?
Because the plateau was full of thick forests.
  • How did Edward help make the map?
He climbed a tree to see all the plateau.
  • While Edward was sitting by the lake at night, what did he see in the caves in the cliffs?
He saw a fire in them.
  • Edward got a terrible shock after he returned to the camp, what was it?
Their provisions were all over the ground, and there aren't anyone on the camp.T

CHAPTERS 11-12

  • What did Lord Roxton do after he escaped from de ape-people?
He went to the camp to take the riffles and safe his friends.
  • How did Edward feel about leaving the plateau?
He felt a bit sad.
  • What happend after Challenger opened the bag to show the baby pterodactyl to the people at the Zoological Institute?
The people started to shout and the pterodactyl was scared. After that, it flew outside through an open window.
  • Lord Roxton invited the two professors and Edward to dinner. What impotant information did he tell them?
He tell that he has £200 000 from the diamonts of the pterodactyls' pool, and he wanted to repart it between them.
  • What did Professor Challenger plan to do with his share of the money?
He planned to build a museum.
